On the eighth floor of a building in Yushima 3-chome, BlueRoomUENO is a relaxed bar for a quiet evening with a well-made drink and a broad selection of spirits. The shelves are lined with whisky, including Scotch, with bottles such as Arran and Bruichladdich to savour at an unhurried pace. There is care in the way drinks are made, too: a Scotch highball with finely textured soda water is a refreshing way to start the evening.

Cocktails are plentiful, with reviews mentioning a drink made with house-made ginger syrup as well as frozen cocktails. Craft beer and wine are also available, making it easy to settle in with a glass even when people at the table have different tastes in drinks.

For something to accompany a drink, there are house-smoked nuts, Coffee Grande fresh chocolate and cheese toasted until golden with a burner. Choose between sweetness, saltiness and toasted flavours to suit your drink, bringing out the finish of each pour.

The calm interior has both counter and table seating, suited to a quiet drink alone or conversation with someone else. The bar is open from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. and closed on Sundays, making it an option for a second stop after dinner or a later-night final drink.
